Olive Young Global Online Shopping Guide

Whether you heard it on beauty review vlogs or saw it on Korean dramas, I bet most of you here are familiar with Olive Young. This leading Korean health and beauty chain stores have more than a thousand stores all over South Korea and counting! They offer everything you want and need for your beauty and wellness routine. Skincare and makeup products range from drugstore to luxury brands, beauty accessories and tools, and even health supplements. And after dominating the Korean beauty market (I remember seeing their stores all over the shopping districts), Olive Young is expanding to the global market. They launched their international shopping hub, the Olive Young Global online store, in 2019.

Right from the start, we can see the category headings on top of their website. It’s mostly the same as any other online store. They have the best-selling category, new arrivals, hot deals, brand selection, and others. Scrolling down, we see the best-selling products first, complete with the product names, pictures, and price. Here you can also see the ongoing discount or promotional offer. 

In my case, It is very rare to come out empty-handed after entering an Olive Young offline store. Among them, the must-have items to buy at Olive Young are a sheet mask and an acne spot care sticker. In addition, on the day of the All-Young Sale(올영세일), I definitely buy at least one skincare or makeup product. 😉 This 30% discount event cannot be overlooked. What caught my interest the most is that Olive Young has tons of new emerging brands currently booming in South Korea. They don’t only display popular brands that we international customers are familiar with. This is the first time I heard the brands Ma:nyo, Round Lab, The Lab By Blanc Doux, BePlain, etc. I found this diverse product selection very helpful because now I can try many different products I can’t get from other retailers.

They offer subcategories to make our search easier too. For example, in the Skincare category, you can see below they also have subcategories such as Moisturizers and Cleansers. And not only stop there, but they also separate it into smaller sections: cleansing oil, cleansing tissue, facial scrub, etc. We also have the option to narrow down our search in a specific product category to the brands with the checklist filter.

Another thing that I didn’t expect I would find at this beauty store is a special section selling K-pop merchandise. They sell albums, CDs, special merchs, and others. So if you’re too tired browsing makeup and skincare, you might want to look at this section. Rest assured they only sell original K-pop albums!

The product page contains every information customers need before we purchase them. The product name, the product description including ingredients and available sizes, the price in USD/JPY, the optional free gift that goes with your purchase, the shipping and refund information, and my favorite thing to check whenever I’m shopping online: the customer reviews. With these honest reviews from real customers, I can check the actual appearance of the product as well as their likes and dislikes. 

Events Page

Next, if you’re a new member, I suggest you check their Events page. They show their latest events, discounts, and announcements here. For example, they have a promotional discount for members’ birthdays and special country offers. Olive Young updates and changes these offers regularly, so make sure to check the latest promo when you’re shopping. Maybe it’s your lucky day!

My Account

The website’s footer at the bottom includes any additional information you might need for your purchase. You can see your account’s activity and track your ongoing orders on ‘My Account,’ find customer service help and FAQ on ‘Help,’ and also see Olive Young’s privacy policy. I’ll get to the payment and delivery page later on. 

Overall, navigating the Olive Young Global shopping website is quite easy and convenient. We can change our language to either English or Mandarin and adjust our currency. Although for now, they only have the USD and JPY currencies on their product pages. The products and brands are also well categorized. And the search bar is helpful if you want to look up a specific product or information.

Make sure to check their shipping regulations on the Shipping page for any country-specific additional information. All purchase above $60 is free of shipping cost. 

Shipping Process (as stated on their website)

1. Add item(s) to your bag.

2. Select desired item(s) and place an order. Once payment is completed, the order status will appear as “Purchase Completed.”

3. Preparing Shipment. Please allow 2-3 business days for the order to be processed and prepared for shipment. Packages are not shipped from our distribution centers on weekends or Korean holidays.

4. In Transit. You will be able to check the tracking number and information on the My Shopping page.

5. Delivered. Door-to-door courier service is available for EMS or DHL. DHL is delivered without signature confirmation. In the event the recipient is absent, the package will be dropped in the recipient’s mailbox. The postal service does not claim any responsibility for missing packages after delivery.

Checking Order Status

When your order is ready, you will receive a shipping confirmation e-mail. This e-mail will contain shipping details, your tracking number, and links to the selected courier website. To track orders at OliveYoung.com, go to My Account. You will need to sign in to access your account information.

Billing

Olive Young accepts Korean debit and credit cards, international credit cards, and also Paypal for international customers. All prices will be charged in USD, so depending on the exchange rates and additional taxes, your final price can differ from the website page. 

Order Placement (as stated on their website)

1. Preparing Shipment. Once payment is complete, your item(s) will be sent to our warehouse to be processed and packed for shipment. During this time, your order status will appear as “Preparing Shipment.”

2. In Transit. Once the shipment for your order is in transit, the order status will appear as “In Transit.”

3. Delivered. Your order is delivered to your selected address. Please note that delivery may be delayed due to external factors such as customs clearance, import-related inspections, etc.
